The Hulk first appeared in Incredible Hulk #1 (May 1962), created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Bruce Banner was a genius physicist working on a gamma bomb when he saved teenager Rick Jones from the blast zone. The gamma radiation transformed Banner into the Hulk—initially gray, then changed to green for printing reasons. The angrier Hulk gets, the stronger he becomes, with no known upper limit.
