The Weather Goddess

Storm first appeared in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (May 1975), created by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum. Ororo Munroe was born in Harlem to a Kenyan princess and an American photojournalist. After her parents died in a plane crash in Cairo, young Ororo survived as a thief before her mutant powers manifested. She was worshipped as a goddess in Kenya before Professor Xavier recruited her for the X-Men.

Storm is an Omega-level mutant—the highest classification of mutant power. She can control all weather patterns on Earth: lightning, wind, rain, snow, and temperature. She can fly by manipulating wind currents. Her powers are tied to her emotions, making her a master of self-control. She's claustrophobic due to childhood trauma but has overcome this fear countless times.

Storm has led the X-Men multiple times, even defeating Cyclops in combat while depowered to claim leadership. She married Black Panther and became Queen of Wakanda, though they later annulled the marriage. She's served on the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and led her own team of X-Men. Storm is one of the most respected and powerful heroes in the Marvel Universe.
