Soldier from Tomorrow
Bishop first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #282 (November 1991), created by Whilce Portacio and Jim Lee. He emerged during the height of the X-Men's popularity, part of a wave of new characters that defined the early '90s era. His time-displaced origin and military bearing set him apart from other X-Men.
In Bishop's future, mutants were hunted and imprisoned in concentration camps. He grew up in these camps, marked with an "M" tattoo over his eye, and eventually joined the Xavier Security Enforcers (XSE)—a mutant police force named after the legendary X-Men. When he traveled back in time, he found himself face-to-face with his childhood heroes.
Bishop's knowledge of future events has made him both an asset and a liability. His obsession with preventing his timeline led him down dark paths, including hunting the young mutant Hope Summers across time. His character represents the burden of knowing too much and the danger of trying to change destiny.

MCU X-Men Speculation
Bishop appeared in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), portrayed by Omar Sy, though in a limited role. With the X-Men's MCU introduction confirmed, Bishop is a prime candidate for a more substantial adaptation. His time-travel origin connects naturally to the multiverse saga, and his military background offers a different dynamic than other X-Men.
The character's visual design—the "M" tattoo, the massive guns, the red energy effects—would translate spectacularly to the MCU. His story of a soldier from a dark future trying to prevent catastrophe resonates with current themes. Bishop could serve as a bridge between X-Men past and future.
INVESTMENT ALERT: Uncanny X-Men #282 is a key '90s book that has seen renewed interest. Bishop's potential MCU role and fan-favorite status make his cards solid speculation targets. His distinctive visual design ensures striking card art across all variants.
