Marvel's Superman Analog
Gladiator first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #107 (October 1977), created by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum. He was explicitly designed as Marvel's answer to Superman, with similar powers but a unique twist: his abilities are psionic in nature and directly tied to his confidence. When Gladiator believes he can win, he's virtually unstoppable. When he doubts himself, he becomes vulnerable.
As Praetor (leader) of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard, Gladiator served multiple emperors and empresses, including Lilandra, D'Ken, and Vulcan. His loyalty to the throne was absolute, even when it put him at odds with the X-Men he respected. Eventually, he became Majestor himself, ruling the Shi'ar Empire directly.
Gladiator's power level is staggering. He's gone toe-to-toe with Thor, Hulk, and even the Phoenix Force. His heat vision can rival the sun, his speed approaches light, and his strength has shattered planets. Yet his psychological vulnerability—the confidence requirement—makes him more interesting than a simple powerhouse.

MCU Cosmic Expansion Potential
The Shi'ar Empire and Imperial Guard have not yet appeared in the MCU, but their introduction seems inevitable given Marvel's cosmic expansion. The X-Men's connection to the Shi'ar through Professor X's relationship with Lilandra provides a natural entry point. Gladiator would be a spectacular visual addition to the MCU.
As Marvel develops its X-Men franchise, cosmic storylines like the Dark Phoenix Saga (which heavily features the Shi'ar) become likely adaptations. Gladiator's Superman-level power set would provide the MCU with a character capable of matching its most powerful heroes and villains.
INVESTMENT ALERT: Gladiator cards represent long-term cosmic speculation. His connection to X-Men mythology and Superman-level power set make him a likely MCU addition. Uncanny X-Men #107 (first Imperial Guard) is an undervalued key for cosmic collectors.
