Legacy of the Union Jack
The Union Jack identity originated in World War I with Lord Montgomery Falsworth, who fought alongside Captain America and the Invaders. His son Brian became the second Union Jack during World War II. Joseph Chapman, a working-class artist and friend of Brian's son Kenneth, became the third Union Jack in Captain America #253 (January 1981).
Unlike his aristocratic predecessors, Joey Chapman brought a blue-collar sensibility to the role. He inherited the costume and weapons but not the family fortune, making him a more relatable hero. His relationship with the Falsworth family—particularly his complicated feelings for Kenneth—added depth to his character.
Chapman has served with MI-13 (Britain's supernatural defense agency), the New Invaders, and various international superhero teams. He's faced vampires, Skrulls, and cosmic threats while representing British heroism. His costume, featuring the Union Jack flag design, is one of Marvel's most visually distinctive.

MCU Potential
Union Jack has not yet appeared in the MCU, but there's significant potential for the character. With Marvel expanding into international heroes and the success of MI-13 in comics, a British-focused project could introduce Joey Chapman. His vampire-hunting expertise could tie into Blade's world.
The character's connection to Captain America and the Invaders provides natural entry points. A World War II flashback could introduce the original Union Jack, with Joey inheriting the mantle in the present day. His working-class background offers a different perspective from aristocratic British heroes.
INVESTMENT ALERT: Union Jack cards offer sleeper potential for MCU speculation. His vampire-hunting skills connect to Blade, and Marvel's international expansion could spotlight British heroes. Captain America #253 (first Joey Chapman) remains affordable.
