The Golden Guardian's Burden
The Sentry first appeared in Sentry #1 (September 2000), created by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee in a groundbreaking miniseries. The story presented Robert Reynolds as a forgotten hero from Marvel's Silver Age—a character who had been retconned out of existence by his own power. The meta-narrative blurred the line between fiction and reality.
Reynolds gained his powers from a modified super-soldier serum, becoming the Sentry with the power of "one million exploding suns." But the serum also created the Void, a dark entity that would destroy everything the Sentry saved. To stop the Void, Reynolds used his powers to make everyone—including himself—forget the Sentry ever existed.
When he remembered his past, the Sentry returned to heroism, joining the New Avengers. But his mental instability—rooted in agoraphobia, depression, and the constant threat of the Void—made him a liability. His story arc in Dark Avengers and Siege showed the tragic consequences of his power, culminating in his death at Thor's hands.

MCU Potential: Marvel's Superman
The Sentry has not yet appeared in the MCU, but he represents one of Marvel's most intriguing possibilities. Often compared to Superman in power level, the Sentry offers something DC's hero doesn't: a deeply flawed, mentally unstable protagonist whose greatest enemy is himself.
His story could explore themes of mental health in ways superhero films rarely attempt. The Void provides a built-in antagonist, and his connection to the Avengers offers natural MCU integration. With Marvel exploring darker territory in projects like Moon Knight, the Sentry's psychological complexity could find the right moment.
INVESTMENT ALERT: Sentry #1 (2000) has seen steady appreciation as MCU speculation grows. His power level and psychological complexity make him a unique property. Any MCU announcement would significantly impact card values. The character's connection to the Void (card #038) adds set-building appeal.
