BLACK BOLTBLACKAGAR BOLTAGON
The Silent King of the Inhumans. Black Bolt possesses a voice so powerful that a single whisper can level cities. Because of this devastating power, he has trained himself to never speak, communicating only through his wife Medusa or sign language. His quasi-sonic scream makes him one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe. Anson Mount's portrayal in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" showed both his power and his vulnerability in a memorable—if brief—appearance.

The Inhuman King
Black Bolt first appeared in Fantastic Four #45 (December 1965), created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. He was introduced as the king of the Inhumans, a race of genetically modified humans created by the Kree millions of years ago. The Inhumans gain their powers through exposure to the Terrigen Mists, with Black Bolt's power being the most devastating of all.
From birth, Black Bolt's voice was dangerous. As an infant, his cries caused destruction. He spent years in a soundproof chamber, learning to control his power and training himself never to make a sound—even in sleep. This discipline makes him one of Marvel's most stoic characters, a king who leads through action rather than words.
Black Bolt was a founding member of the Illuminati, Marvel's secret council of heroes that included Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Professor X, Mister Fantastic, and Namor. This group made controversial decisions affecting the entire Marvel Universe, including sending Hulk into space (leading to "World War Hulk") and hiding the Infinity Gems.

MCU: A Memorable Multiverse Moment
Anson Mount first portrayed Black Bolt in the critically panned "Inhumans" TV series (2017). However, his return in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" (2022) gave the character a proper showcase—even if it ended tragically. As a member of the Illuminati in Earth-838, Black Bolt demonstrated his power before Wanda Maximoff horrifically removed his mouth, causing his own scream to destroy his head.
Despite the brutal death, the scene proved Black Bolt's power and Anson Mount's portrayal resonated with audiences. The Inhumans' future in the MCU remains uncertain, but Black Bolt's Multiverse of Madness appearance suggests Marvel hasn't abandoned the characters. A proper Inhumans project could give Black Bolt the treatment he deserves.
INVESTMENT ALERT: Black Bolt cards benefit from Illuminati connection and Inhumans speculation. Fantastic Four #45 (first appearance) is a significant Silver Age key. His Multiverse of Madness appearance renewed interest. Any Inhumans project announcement would cause immediate movement. His power level makes him a fan-favorite for "versus" discussions.
