SPECULATIONThanos could return via the multiverse in Secret Wars. While the main timeline Thanos was killed in Endgame, the multiverse opens infinite possibilities. Variant Thanos appearances, flashbacks, or even a resurrected Thanos fighting alongside heroes against an incursion threat are all possible. His legacy as the MCU's greatest villain ensures any return would be a massive event.
SECRET WARS POTENTIAL
In the comics, Thanos plays a role in Secret Wars as one of the villains on Battleworld. A multiverse-spanning event could easily include a Thanos variant. His popularity makes a return commercially attractive.
INVESTMENT IMPLICATION
Thanos cards maintain premium value due to Infinity Saga legacy. Any announcement of his return would cause immediate spikes. Iron Man #55 (first appearance) is a Bronze Age key. His cultural impact transcends comics.

The Infinity Saga's Ultimate Villain
Thanos first appeared in Iron Man #55 (February 1973), created by Jim Starlin. Originally inspired by DC's Darkseid and the concept of Thanatos (the Greek personification of death), Thanos became obsessed with the cosmic entity Death, seeking to impress her through universal genocide. His quest for the Infinity Gems (later Stones) defined decades of Marvel cosmic storytelling.
The "Infinity Gauntlet" storyline (1991) established Thanos as Marvel's ultimate threat. With all six Infinity Gems, he erased half the universe with a snap—a moment the MCU would recreate to devastating effect. What makes Thanos compelling is his twisted logic: he genuinely believes he's saving the universe from overpopulation. He's not evil for evil's sake; he's a zealot convinced of his righteousness.
Thanos has been defeated multiple times but always returns. His children—the Black Order—serve as his generals. His relationship with Gamora and Nebula adds tragic family dynamics. He's sat on his throne, waiting, while others do his bidding. When Thanos acts personally, the universe trembles.

MCU: Josh Brolin's Masterpiece
Josh Brolin's Thanos is widely considered the greatest comic book movie villain ever. First teased in "The Avengers" (2012) post-credits, Thanos became the driving force of the Infinity Saga. His full debut in "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018) was a villain-protagonist film—we followed his quest, understood his logic, and watched him win. The Snap remains one of cinema's most shocking moments.
"Avengers: Endgame" (2019) featured two versions of Thanos: the contemplative farmer who achieved his goal, and the younger, more brutal warrior from 2014. His final battle against the assembled Avengers is the culmination of 22 films. His death—dusted by his own Infinity Stones—was poetic justice. "I am inevitable." "And I... am... Iron Man."
