MILES MORALESSPIDER-MAN • KID ARACHNID
The Spider-Man of a new generation. Miles Morales was bitten by a genetically enhanced spider stolen from Oscorp, gaining powers similar to Peter Parker's—plus unique abilities like invisibility and a bioelectric "venom strike." After Peter's death in the Ultimate Universe, Miles took up the mantle, proving that anyone can wear the mask. The Oscar-winning "Into the Spider-Verse" films transformed Miles into a global phenomenon, showcasing Afro-Latino representation and revolutionary animation. He's not a replacement for Peter Parker—he's his own hero, carrying the legacy forward.

Anyone Can Wear the Mask
Miles Morales first appeared in Ultimate Fallout #4 (August 2011), created by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli. In the Ultimate Universe, Peter Parker died saving his loved ones. Miles, a Brooklyn teenager who had been bitten by a stolen Oscorp spider, was inspired to become the new Spider-Man. His journey from reluctant hero to confident champion defined a new era of Spider-Man storytelling.
Miles is Afro-Latino—his father is African American, his mother is Puerto Rican. This representation matters enormously. He's not a sidekick or a legacy character waiting for the "real" Spider-Man to return. He IS Spider-Man, with his own rogues gallery, supporting cast, and heroic journey. His friendship with Ganke Lee, his complicated relationship with his father (a former criminal), and his struggles balancing school with heroism feel authentic.
After the Ultimate Universe ended, Miles was brought into the main Marvel Universe during Secret Wars (2015). He now operates alongside Peter Parker, with both acknowledged as Spider-Man. He's led the Champions, joined the Avengers, and become one of Marvel's most popular characters. His black and red costume is instantly recognizable.

Spider-Verse: Animation Revolution
"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" (2018) won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and changed animation forever. Its revolutionary visual style—combining CGI with comic book aesthetics, variable frame rates, and Ben-Day dots—created something entirely new. Shameik Moore's voice performance captured Miles' uncertainty and growth. The film's message—"anyone can wear the mask"—resonated globally.
"Across the Spider-Verse" (2023) expanded the multiverse concept further, introducing hundreds of Spider-People and exploring Miles' unique status as an "anomaly." The film's cliffhanger ending sets up "Beyond the Spider-Verse." Miles has also starred in the acclaimed PlayStation video games, further cementing his mainstream popularity. His MCU live-action debut remains one of the most anticipated announcements in superhero cinema.
