MIGHTY THORJANE FOSTER • VALKYRIE • GODDESS OF THUNDER
Whosoever holds this hammer, if she be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor. Jane Foster was dying of cancer when Mjolnir called to her. Each time she transformed into Thor, the chemotherapy was purged from her body, hastening her death. Yet she kept fighting, proving that worthiness isn't about power—it's about sacrifice. Natalie Portman's portrayal in "Thor: Love and Thunder" brought this beloved comic storyline to life, showing that heroes come in many forms.

AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY WATCH
POSSIBLEJane Foster's Mighty Thor could return for Secret Wars. In "Love and Thunder," Jane died but was shown in Valhalla. In the comics, she became a Valkyrie after her death as Thor. The multiverse allows for any version of Jane to appear. Her sacrifice and worthiness make her a powerful symbol for any final battle.
VALHALLA STATUS
Jane Foster is in Valhalla, not truly dead in the MCU sense. She could be called back for a final battle. In Secret Wars, the stakes are universal—Valhalla's warriors might be needed. Her return would be emotionally powerful and thematically fitting.
INVESTMENT IMPLICATION
Thor #1 (2014, first Jane as Thor) is a Modern Age key. Natalie Portman's return was well-received. Any announcement of her Secret Wars involvement would spike values. Her story resonates deeply with fans.

The Worthy One
Jane Foster first appeared in Journey into Mystery #84 (September 1962), created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby. She was introduced as a nurse and Thor's love interest. For decades, she remained a supporting character—until Jason Aaron's legendary Thor run transformed her into the Goddess of Thunder herself.
In 2014's Thor #1, Jane Foster lifted Mjolnir and became Thor. The original Thor (Odinson) had become unworthy, and the hammer chose Jane. What made her story remarkable was the cost: Jane was dying of cancer, and each transformation into Thor purged the chemotherapy from her body, accelerating her death. She kept fighting anyway.
Jane's final battle as Thor, against the Mangog, required her to sacrifice Mjolnir itself—and her life. She died a hero's death but was resurrected by Odin. She later became a Valkyrie, continuing her heroic journey. Her story is one of Marvel's most powerful explorations of sacrifice, worthiness, and what it truly means to be a hero.

MCU: Natalie Portman's Return
Natalie Portman originated the role of Jane Foster in "Thor" (2011) and "Thor: The Dark World" (2013). After sitting out "Ragnarok," she returned triumphantly in "Thor: Love and Thunder" (2022) as the Mighty Thor. Her transformation from scientist to goddess was the film's emotional core.
The film adapted Jason Aaron's cancer storyline, showing Jane's battle with Stage 4 cancer while wielding Mjolnir. Her final battle against Gorr the God Butcher and her death were powerful moments. The post-credits scene revealed her in Valhalla, greeted by Heimdall—leaving the door open for her return.
